With the ever-growing population and urbanization, there are more houses coming up nowadays than ever before. Where there was once a bungalow, now there is a 24-storey apartment. Ever wonder how you can make your small apartment look like a big bungalow? Well, you’re in luck!

1.     Industrial

A monochromatic color scheme for the bathroom can offer a nice contrast to hardwood shelves, while causing the color to recede, giving a more spacious look. Use of big mirrors reflects more light making the room seem brighter and spacious as well. Recessed shelves create more texture to the wall as well as room to store toiletries.

The use of a bench along with chairs, for the dining table, creates extra space for people to sit. A mix of different styles of chairs also makes the space more interesting.

2.     Modern Loft

When you are already low on space you cannot afford to waste even a single square meter. If there is a considerable amount of space between your door and the wall, use it to store shoes or anything you’d like.

If your kitchen and dining area share a wall, then replace that wall with a glass window instead. It makes both the rooms look bigger as well as allows you to see when dinner is ready.

Instead of pushing a sofa against a wall, try something different and leave it in the middle of the room. You can add some rocking chairs behind the sofa to create a nice cozy spot to relax when you’re not watching TV.

3.     Minimalistic

Long benches allow you to invite more friends over without having to worry about where they’ll sit.  A bar in the middle of your dining area and living area helps to divide the space and create more space for people to sit.

Who doesn’t like a walk-in wardrobe? But these can be tricky to have when you have a small apartment. Swapping the opaque wardrobe doors with a see through glass door makes the room look bigger and it also serves as as a walk-in wardrobe.

Make a small space look bigger and brighter with the right placement of mirrors. Using various mirror arrangements make the space more interesting.

Have a big bedroom but no study room? There’s no need to fret since you can convert the bedroom into a study as well. Just add a table in the center where you can hang up a TV on the bedroom side and a corkboard with your projects on the study side.

5.     Scandinavian

Multi purpose furniture is always great for small homes. Instead of buying a big coffee table, invest in multiple small ones that you can stack underneath each other when not in use. This not only creates more space, it also sparks more interest.

Tall freestanding shelves placed in between the sink and wall make it super easy to find what you need as well as store all those extra toiletries.

A kitchen with lights right above the counter brightens up the whole space as well as creates a more spacious look. Not to mention it makes cutting vegetables much easier.

6.     Traditional

The corner table allows more things to be kept on the table and it provides for more space to work. The platform sort of helps separate the study area from the bedroom area.

Positioning shelves in a smart manner can free up a lot of space. Adding spaces between shelves allows room for storing items like ovens and creates a more dynamic flow to the room. A bright colored palette reflects the natural light coming into the room and can help save on electricity too.

Covering up free space on the wall with a mirror helps not only to brighten up the space but also, makes it look roomier. Suspended lights bring out the perfect vintage feel to the room.

A kitchen with a darker color palette can look more spacious with lights above the counter.

Placing a mattress on a platform allows a great replacement for a bedframe as it acts as a storage space or a double bed.

8.     Contemporary

A shiny and reflective surface brightens up the room and makes it look bigger. Using various types of these surfaces creates a more interesting space.

Floor chairs are great space savers as they can be easily moved away when not needed and don’t block too much area, unlike sofas.

9.     Country

Instead of having a number of tables in a study room, just create a long shelf with drawers on the sides. This allows more people to use the study room without the extra bulk of 2 to 3 tables. It’s a neat and chic alternative.

Use the space on top of a bathroom mirror by creating a shelf. You can place your toiletries without creating a mess or cluttering the area.

10. Retro

By using different textures of wood in one room, you can create a more dynamic vibe. Pairing this with selected neon colored furniture adds a hint of retro without going overboard.

Suspended lights give the illusion of higher ceilings, making your rooms look more spacious than they really are.
